Coming out of Drought
Something from a dear brother (and a godly pastor), impressed upon me recently by phone:
I told him that I was feeling my zeal again, the childlike faith that I once had upon coming to Christ.
He told me (paraphrasing) “Use this time. Use it to the best of your ability every moment of every day. Use the zeal and be sanctified. Be prepared for the next season of drought by nourishing your soul with this gift being poured into you now by the Spirit. It will strengthen you in the next valley and you will be able to continue growing and be connected to the Lord in the next hard season with greater confidence”
That felt so wise and encouraging. I am so blessed to be approaching what feels like an oasis in a really complicated time in life, but how important it is to prepare for the next seasons by saturating ourselves in God’s word is something to cherish in moments when we realize this.
Hope this is as helpful for others as it was for me! Don’t neglect the word in times of drought, but especially allow the Lord to work on you in times of great fruitfulness.
