I've been thinking on the topic of the definition of Reformed lately, and one thing I've found interesting is that some reformed leaning folks agree with all of tulip and some don't. So I wanted to ask the group what each one means to people. Starting with the Perseverance of the saints.

Hey Nicki, that is a funny connection. I’ve never met Daniel Hyde but my brother has. As for the parable it is interesting that some of the group have believed for awhile. Is it possible to believe unless one was regenerated? It could be a false belief, I do agree that there are many false converts like you mentioned. It’s not that we know Christ but that He knows us. Though I do know believers can grieve the Holy Spirit. And that God can give someone over to their flesh. So it’s not a far stretch to assume an elect believer can fall away, like Solomon did. Or lots of Israel in the desert. Many were reprobate but some could be true elect too. Earlier in Matt 13 Jesus talks about speaking in parables so that some people wouldn’t understand, be converted and then healed. Is it possible that He was fulfilling the prophecy of temporal judgement upon hard hearted children of God. Partial blindness and hardening did come upon Israel according Gods plan. Ultimately I don’t think everyone who professes Christ will be saved. I don’t think someone can freely of their own will seek after God, the Lord must regenerate them first in order for them to believe. However does a believer have the free will to sin to such a degree that they fall into unbelief?
